Quick Overview

Levels: ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS, ELEMENTARY, INTERMEDIATE, UPPER INTERMEDIATE, ADVANCED

Italian Absolute Beginners, A1 (online and in-person): This course provides the ideal introduction to Italian, covering the basic language needs in everyday situations on a visit to Italy. It presupposes no previous knowledge of Italian. The course is textbook based and there is considerable emphasis on oral communication and listening skills.

Italian Elementary, A2 (online): This interactive course is suitable for people wishing to learn Italian for work or pleasure, who have had previous exposure to the Italian language or completed the “Absolute Beginners” level. The course is textbook based and is devised to consolidate existing knowledge and will build up and develop your ability to interact in Italian.

Italian Intermediate, B1 (online): This course is primarily designed for students who wish to consolidate existing knowledge. The course is textbook based and is devised to widen the students’ ability to interact: speak, understand, read and write on various topics.

Italian Upper Intermediate, B2 (online): This course is for adults who have taken our Intermediate course and will take up where that course left off last year, or who already have intermediate spoken and written skills and who wish to develop these further. At the end of the course, the students will have the option of taking the examination for the CILS (Certificate of Italian as a Foreign Language) at an appropriate level (decided in consultation with the teacher), issued by the Università per Stranieri di Siena.

Italian Advanced, C1 (online): This course is for advanced/independent users of Italian at level B2. Students taking this course should be able to express themselves fluently and spontaneously. The aims of the course are: development of speaking, listening and reading skills, together with the consolidation of grammar and acquisition of new vocabulary.

Cost: €350 (all external applicants)/€300 (UCC registered student/staff member)
